Often known as Devil's Hand or Finger Leather Coral, an established colony can become a substantial feature with a shape completely different from branching stony corals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eRather than producing a solid skeleton, \u003cem\u003eLobophytum\u003c\/em\u003e contains thousands of tiny calcium carbonate structures called \u003cstrong\u003esclerites\u003c\/strong\u003e. Moderate varied flow encourages good polyp extension and helps the coral naturally shed its surface layer.
