Pumps & Flow

Getting the water moving is one of the most important parts of keeping a healthy reef. Good flow helps carry nutrients to your corals, keeps oxygen circulating and prevents waste from settling in those awkward corners.

There are two main types of pumps you'll come across. Return pumps move water through your filtration system and back into your aquarium, while wavemakers create the natural, varied movement that corals and other reef inhabitants rely on.

Whether you're keeping gently swaying soft corals, flowing Euphyllia or an SPS-dominated reef, the trick is finding the right type and amount of flow for your aquarium.
