Aiptasia Eating Filefish
Scientific Name: Acreichthys tomentosus

Small Fish Safe: Yes
Invert Safe: With caution – may nip at small shrimp
Coral Safe: With caution – may nip at soft corals, zoanthids, or LPS
Adult Size: Up to 12 cm

Why We Like It:
One of the few fish reliably known to consume pest Aiptasia anemones, this filefish is a useful biological control for problem tanks. Cryptic in appearance but full of personality, it adapts well to prepared foods once established. While often reef compatible, individuals can sometimes sample corals, so observation is important. A practical and interesting addition when dealing with Aiptasia outbreaks.
