Circus Bounce Mushroom
Type: Mushroom Coral
Scientific Name: Rhodactis sp.
PAR: 50?125
Flow: Low to moderate
Placement: Low Third
Description
Circus Bounce Mushroom is a colourful Rhodactis selected for its exaggerated bubble-like vesicles and contrasting pigmentation. These enlarged structures rise above the surface of the mushroom, creating the distinctive three-dimensional appearance that gives Bounce Mushrooms their name.
?Bounce? isn't a separate species of mushroom. It describes a growth form in which some of the surface vesicles become unusually enlarged. Their size and shape can continue to develop as the mushroom matures, meaning an established Bounce can become dramatically more textured than a younger specimen.
Why We Like It
Bounce Mushrooms are just weird ? in the best possible way. The oversized bubbles give them a completely different shape from an ordinary mushroom, while the Circus colouration makes an already unusual coral even more eye-catching. They're one of those corals that are just as interesting viewed up close as they are from across the tank.
Care Notes
A photosynthetic mushroom that generally prefers lower light and gentler flow. Direct feeding isn't essential, although Rhodactis can capture suitably sized meaty foods. Once settled and growing well, the mushroom may reproduce and produce additional individuals around the original.
