Origin: Indo-Pacific – Red Sea, East Africa to the Hawaiian Islands, Great Barrier Reef

Diet: Omnivore – feeds on sponges, tunicates, algae, and small invertebrates in the wild; in captivity, offer sponge-based angelfish diets, seaweed, mysis, and marine pellets.
Care Level: Moderate to Difficult – requires excellent water quality and a large, mature tank (minimum 220–250 gallons).
Aggression: Semi-aggressive – can be territorial, especially toward other large angelfish.

Notes:
One of the most recognisable marine fish, the Emperor Angelfish is famous for its dramatic transformation from juvenile to adult. Juveniles are deep blue with white and electric-blue circular patterns, while adults display striking horizontal yellow and blue stripes with a bold black mask. Requires plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter.
