Description

Firework Clove is a colourful soft coral with delicate, feathery polyps that resemble tiny fireworks when fully extended. Each polyp has eight pinnate tentacles ? a characteristic shared by octocorals ? giving the colony its intricate, almost fern-like appearance.

As the colony establishes, new polyps spread across the surface beneath them to create an increasingly dense patch. The combination of fine detail, fluorescence and movement makes Firework Cloves look particularly impressive when viewed up close.

Why We Like It

It's a completely different kind of colour to the big fleshy LPS corals. Firework Cloves give you loads of tiny detail and constant movement, and once a colony fills out it creates a brilliant shimmering patch of colour. They're especially good for bringing life to smaller areas of rockwork.

Care Notes

A photosynthetic soft coral that doesn't require direct feeding, although it can make use of fine suspended foods and nutrients in the water. It can spread readily once established, so placing it where its growth can be managed makes it easy to keep the colony in the area you want.
