The Foxface Rabbitfish is a striking and highly useful marine fish, recognised by its bold yellow body, contrasting black facial mask and peaceful nature. It is one of the most effective algae-grazing fish available, making it a popular choice for both fish-only and reef aquariums.

Throughout the day, the Foxface grazes continuously on algae growing across the rockwork, helping to control many nuisance algae species. While generally considered reef compatible, hungry individuals have occasionally been known to nip at soft corals, large polyp stony corals or zoanthids, so they are best described as reef safe with caution.

Like all rabbitfish, the Foxface possesses venomous dorsal, anal and pelvic fin spines. Although not aggressive, care should always be taken when handling or netting the fish, as stings can be painful.
