Frankenstein's Pet Pineapple Prism Coral Care | The Happy Reef

Frankenstein's Pet Pineapple Prism is a colourful Moseleya LPS coral with thick, fleshy tissue and a distinctive ridged, brain-like appearance. The contrasting colours of this morph become particularly impressive under blue-spectrum reef lighting, highlighting both the fluorescent pigments and unusual structure of the coral.

Moseleya is particularly interesting because the genus contains just a single recognised species, Moseleya latistellata. It is often called a Pineapple Coral in the aquarium trade, although that common name is also used for several unrelated corals. As it grows, Moseleya develops large, fleshy corallites and can become a substantial showpiece LPS.

Scientific Name: Moseleya latistellata

PAR: 75?150

Flow: Low to moderate. Gentle, indirect movement that keeps the fleshy polyps moving naturally works well.

Placement: Low Third

Feeding: Beneficial. Moseleya is photosynthetic but responds very well to occasional target feeding. Mysis, finely chopped seafood and suitable LPS foods can be offered when the feeding tentacles are extended and can help support strong growth and condition.

Care Notes: A rewarding LPS that does particularly well with stable reef parameters and occasional feeding. Allow some space around the coral as Moseleya can extend sweeper tentacles after dark. Stable alkalinity, calcium and magnesium will support continued skeletal growth and the development of a larger, fuller colony.
