Golden Glitter Symphyllia Coral Care | The Happy Reef

Golden Glitter Symphyllia is a striking fleshy LPS with golden colouration running through its broad, winding valleys. Under blue-spectrum reef lighting, the fluorescent pigments can give the surface a glittering appearance, while the inflated tissue creates the chunky, deeply folded look associated with these brain corals.

The name Symphyllia is still extremely common in the reef trade, but the taxonomy has changed. Species formerly placed in Symphyllia are now classified within Lobophyllia, so a coral sold as a Symphyllia is scientifically a Lobo. The old name remains useful in the hobby because it describes the distinctive shared-wall, meandering appearance reef keepers associate with these corals.
