Description

Green Bounce Mushroom is a fluorescent Rhodactis with enlarged bubble-like vesicles rising above the surface of the mushroom. These exaggerated structures create the unusual three-dimensional appearance that gives Bounce Mushrooms their name, with the green pigmentation becoming particularly vivid under blue-spectrum reef lighting.

?Bounce? isn't a separate species. It describes a growth form where some of the surface vesicles become dramatically enlarged, and these bubbles can continue to change in size and shape as the mushroom matures.

Why We Like It

They're wonderfully weird. A normal mushroom is already an unusual animal, then a Bounce takes that basic shape and covers it in oversized fluorescent bubbles. The green gives this one loads of impact under reef lighting, and mature specimens can become increasingly impressive as those vesicles develop.

Care Notes

A photosynthetic mushroom that generally prefers lower light and gentler flow. Direct feeding isn't essential, although Rhodactis can capture appropriately sized meaty foods. Once established, the mushroom may reproduce and produce additional individuals around the parent.
