Description

Green Clavularia is a bright, delicate soft coral with fluorescent green polyps and fine feathery tentacles. When fully extended, a colony creates a field of small waving polyps that adds both colour and constant movement to the reef.

Clavularia are octocorals, so each polyp has eight pinnate, or feather-like, tentacles. Colonies grow by spreading across the surface beneath them and producing new polyps, gradually creating a larger patch of interconnected animals.

Why We Like It

It's simple, bright and full of movement. The fine polyps give it a completely different texture from fleshy LPS or chunky leather corals, and the fluorescent green really stands out under reef lighting. Once it fills an area of rockwork, it creates a brilliant natural-looking display.

Care Notes

A photosynthetic soft coral that doesn't require direct feeding, although it can make use of fine suspended foods and nutrients in the water. It can spread readily once established, so its position can be chosen depending on how much space you want the colony to eventually cover.
