Description: The Indigo Hamlet is a striking Caribbean basslet relative featuring a deep indigo-blue body with darker facial markings and bright blue highlights. Unlike many reef fish, hamlets have a unique hovering swimming style and spend much of their time observing their surroundings before making short dashes to investigate food. They are intelligent, inquisitive fish that quickly learn feeding routines and often become surprisingly interactive with their keeper.
Why We Like It: Hamlets offer something genuinely different from the usual reef fish. The Indigo Hamlet combines beautiful colouration with a bold personality and unusual behaviour that makes it fascinating to watch. It works particularly well in larger reef or fish-only systems where its character can really shine. While generally peaceful towards similarly sized fish, its predatory nature means very small fish and ornamental shrimp should be considered carefully.
