Acanthophyllia deshayesiana
What it is
A large, single-polyp LPS coral with a thick, fleshy body and a central mouth, sitting directly on the sandbed. Unlike acans, this is one continuous animal, not a colony. Indo specimens are typically brighter and more fluorescent, often showing strong greens with contrasting centres or streaking.
Why we like it
If you want something that instantly makes your tank look established, this does it. It’s large, colourful, and draws attention straight away without needing months of growth. It’s also far more forgiving than it looks, making it a good choice if you want a standout coral without needing SPS-level stability.
