Origin: Indo-Pacific

Small Fish Safe: No – will eat smaller fish

Invert Safe: No – will eat shrimp, crabs, and other meaty inverts

Coral Safe: Yes – does not feed on coral

Adult Size: Up to 45 cm

Diet: Carnivore – meaty frozen foods, fish, shrimp, and crustaceans

Why We Like It:

Bright red-orange covered in electric blue spots, the Miniatus Grouper is one of the most visually striking groupers available. Hardy, intelligent, and full of presence, it quickly becomes a dominant fish in predator systems. Requires a large tank with robust tankmates and plenty of rockwork. Not suitable for reef tanks with small livestock, but an exceptional centrepiece for large FOWLR or predator setups.
