Pink Spot Goby

Pinkspot Goby

Cryptocentrus leptocephalus

The Pinkspot Goby is a peaceful and attractive bottom-dwelling fish, recognised by its subtle pink spotting and engaging personality. It spends much of its time perched at the entrance to its burrow, retreating into the substrate when startled before quickly reappearing to watch its surroundings.

This species thrives in aquariums with a sandy substrate where it can excavate and maintain a burrow beneath securely placed rockwork. It may form a fascinating symbiotic partnership with pistol shrimp, sharing a burrow while the shrimp maintains the tunnel and the goby acts as a lookout.

Although completely reef safe, care should be taken to ensure rockwork is stable before adding sand, as burrowing activity may undermine unsecured structures. A tightly fitting lid is also recommended, as gobies are capable jumpers.
