Red Tail Tamarin Wrasse
Scientific Name: Anampses chrysocephalus
Small Fish Safe: Yes
Invert Safe: No – may prey on small crustaceans, snails, and worms
Coral Safe: Yes
Adult Size: Up to 14 cm
Diet: Carnivore – eats frozen mysis, brine, copepods, amphipods, and small inverts
Why We Like It:
A visually striking wrasse with vibrant red and green patterning and a flowing red tail, this species brings movement and colour to larger reef tanks. Like other Anampses, it can be delicate during acclimation and is best introduced to mature, stable tanks with plenty of sand for sleeping and hiding. Best kept singly, and not suited to nano systems or crustacean-heavy reefs. A rewarding choice for experienced wrasse keepers.
